Acchhe Din Aane Wale Hain....

The Modi Government won a landslide victory, OK, so it can not be called landslide - as this was a no-brainer, one way contest and the only people surprised were the Congress core team!!!

The plank for their win was "development and growth". And their massive victory promised them support for the promised "acchhe din"...And we are an impatient lot... After 4 months of the victory, people are asking "Where are acchhe din???"

And things are changing... Suddenly everyone is sitting and taking notice of the fact India that is waking up and making politically correct noises...

I firmly believe that if the intentions are right, the policy inaction is lifted, and the right noises are made, then this WILL happen...

NaMo is making inroads where none existed before and it is visible in the diplomatic coups that have taken place - First time ever, were all SAARC countries represented in the oath taking ceremony of the PM in India. The highly publicized and successful(the jury is still out on this) visits of the PM to Bhutan, Nepal and Japan followed by the recent Chinese visit to India have been very well orchestrated and showcase India's focus on its neighbours and bilateral relations - economic and defense. The current visit to US and finally meeting the big daddy are also going to be interesting.

Within India too, there is suddenly more focus on work from the cabinet than ever before. The sudden spurt in activity, it is hoped, will continue... The stories on how the new cabinet is sleep-deprived are doing rounds. The fact that this PM leads from the front and is hands-on on governance is visible to one and all. Suddenly there is an urgency in getting things done - passing projects that were stuck in a decade long inertia or sheer red-tapism(some detractors are also talking about undue haste in this), has become the norm rather than the exception. Quick decisions and quicker responses have become the way of life.

However the trickle down effect has not happened as yet... We ARE an impatient lot... 10 years of nothing and we want everything done in a jiffy... The "acchhe din" will come... The sudden interest in India and Bharat (Modi mantra seems do-able and talks about inclusion and growth of all - and not just the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer).

The sense of optimism that seems to envelop everything is indeed a welcome step and it is this hope that will override every other thing and take India on the growth trajectory as well. And when India grows and moves forward, so will the people!!!

India's perception has changed too... Suddenly the financial markets are bullish again, the inflation, though not down, seems under control, our manufacturing sector seems to be in for a major overhaul, with the Modi mantra on "Make in India", global business leaders are talking about investing in India... everywhere the mood is upbeat.
